They expected for people to spend their money on things that they actually needed, therefore they had to use strategic marketing techniques to convince consumers that they needed these things.
Modern Marketing Era
The modern marketing era started approximately in the early 1960's and is still used today in marketing.
What marketing tactics did they use?
They use social media and newsletters to grab people's attention. Today, apps are developed to make it easier for people to see the "deals" they can get that day. Another example is signing up for a brands newsletter, and in return you get free samples. They also like to show how low their prices are.
Relationship Marketing Era
This era is the newest era in marketing's constant evolution.
What did they want to focus on?
They wanted to focus on creating a relationship with the consumer by making them apart of their family. They want to ensure that they have long term relationship with the buyer and that they keep coming back to buy.
Youth Marketing
Selling/advertising products to a much younger audience.
What is the goal in youth marketing?
The goal is to convince youth that the products they are selling are "cool" and a new trend. Youth Marketing also effects the parents because if there is a new trend that all the other kids have, the parents are going to want to buy it for their kids.
What do most of the AD's include?
Most of the Ad'S include visuals of children having fun or enjoying the product. Almost all of them contain the "low" price and some sort of perk.
Services Marketing
Instead of advertising products, advertising services a company offers.
What is the goal?
They want to prove to their customers that they are the best choice. For example, in the cleaning services ad above, they say that they will come back and clean until you are 100% satisfied.
What do their AD's include?
Some of the advertisements include discounts, and multiple reasons why they are the best choice.
